  • The Intermediate Choir is a performing group that will present several performances during the school year.
  • Choir membership is open to 4th, 5th, and 6th grade boys and girls by audition.
  • Choir rehearsals are held once each week (on Fridays) from 1:30 – 2:00.
  • Choir members will miss only 30 minutes of regular class instruction one afternoon each week.
  • Continued Choir membership depends on excellent school attendance, appropriate classroom behavior, and acceptable classroom work.
  • Third-grade students have the opportunity to audition for the District Third Grade Choir with Mrs.Cynthia Hofmann, Primary Music Teacher - 3rd Grade Choir Director.  Students will learn a song in class, return the permission to audition form, and audition for Mrs. Hofmann.  Choir takes place from 1:30-2:00 on Fridays days in the Cloverland music room.  Students will memorize music for December and May concerts that are held in the Magnolia School Auditorium.  Students are encouraged to practice matching pitches and to audition!

  • Students will be introduced to choral music in a variety of styles from different musical time periods.
  • Students will be led in organized practice, or rehearsal, each week.
  • Students will learn the style, melody, and words of each song being taught.
  • Students will be able to present these songs (as a group) from memory in the form of concert performances.  (Please see requirements below.)

  • Successful performance is the result of consistent rehearsal attendance; therefore eligibility for participation in any choir performance is based on the student’s rehearsal attendance record.
  • In order to participate in performances, Choir members must attend a minimum of 75% of the rehearsals that are held.  (In other words, 3 out of 4 rehearsals, on average.)
  • Concert dress will be “traditional concert attire” (white on the top, black on the bottom).  If this creates a financial hardship, please let me know.
  • The only way to attend a rehearsal IS to attend the rehearsal.  There is no way to “make-up” a missed rehearsal; therefore there are NO excused absences!
  • As with any performing group, consistency of personnel is one of the keys to success.  The expectation is that all choir members will commit to excellence and will demonstrate their commitment throughout the entire school year.

As the district intermediate music teacher, I am looking forward to an exciting school year, both in the classroom and in performance.  Your student is encouraged to “audition” for Choir by singing for me a song that we have been preparing in music class.  Auditions are voluntary and will be held in the Music Room of your child’s school.  I will inform your students’ classroom teacher as to the time his/her students should report to the audition.  Membership will be posted on the music room door after I have finished the auditions at all four elementary sites.

Next Performance for 3rd Grade Choir:

  • Thursday, December 15th, 2016 @ Magnolia School Auditorium 6:00 pm. Line up in cafeteria @ 5:45 pm.
  •  Thursday, May 18th , 2016 @ Magnolia School Auditorium 6:00 pm. Line up in cafeteria @ 5:45 pm.
  • Click here for More Information.

I am planning on having each school choir give a short performance at an assembly at their site during the school day sometime in Spring 2016.

Mrs. Larson,

My child, _______________________________, and I have read the information about membership in the Cloverland Intermediate Choir.  We understand the 75% rehearsal attendance requirement to be allowed to participate in any performance. If selected, we promise to honor this commitment for the entire school year.  Please sign and return this permission for audition to your child’s regular classroom teacher.  It is their “ticket” into the audition.
