DESCRIPTION

  • The Intermediate Choir is a performing group that will present performances during the school year.

  • Choir membership is open to 4th, 5th, and 6th grade boys and girls by audition.

  • Choir rehearsals are held once each week on Fridays from 12:30-1:00pm

  • Choir members will miss only 30 minutes of regular class instruction one afternoon each week.

  • Continued Choir membership depends on excellent school attendance, appropriate classroom behavior, and acceptable classroom work.

GOALS and OBJECTIVES

  • Students will be introduced to choral music in a variety of styles from different musical time periods.

  • Students will be led in organized practice, or rehearsal, each week.

  • Students will learn the style, melody, and words of each song being taught.

  • Students will be able to present these songs (as a group) from memory in the form of concert performances.  (Please see requirements below.)

REQUIREMENTS

  • In order to participate in performances, Choir members will need to have no more than 3 absences each concert cycle.

  • Concert dress will be “traditional concert attire” (white on the top, black on the bottom).  If this creates a financial hardship, please let me know.

  • Absences from rehearsal will only be excused with communication from parent.

  • Intermediate Choir is a YEAR LONG commitment.  Students who audition for choir and are accepted are expected to stay in the group all year long.

Audition Information

Students will audition with a piece we learn together in their general music classes.  All students will get the opportunity to sing along with recorded accompaniment for their audition. Auditions will take place during the regular school day.  I am looking forward to teaching choir this year and getting to know each and every one of you. I plan on having a diverse and fun repertoire and am looking forward to a great year!

  • Wednesday    December 19       7:00pm    Magnolia School Auditorium

  • Tuesday    May 7              7:00pm    Magnolia School Auditorium


 

PLEASE PRINT, SIGN AND RETURN THE BOTTOM PORTION TO MYSELF OR THE SECRETARIES IN THE OFFICE IF YOU WISH TO AUDITION.  KEEP THE REST FOR YOUR REFERENCE.

 

 

Mrs. Bomer,

    My child _______________________________ and I have read the information about membership in the Fair Oaks Intermediate Choir.  We understand the 75% rehearsal attendance requirement to be allowed to participate in any performance. If selected, we promise to honor this commitment for the entire school year.  Please sign and return this permission for audition to your child’s regular classroom teacher.  It is their “ticket” into the audition.
